Ok, my question now is, what part of the VP44 pump is prone to failure? Is it in the ecu on the pump, or one of the sensors themselves? Pic provided.

most common that i heard of is the ecu it self. often the main mosfet. however 2nd is wear on the timing piston/housing.
 
Don’t even think about trying to mess with the electrical part of the pump. Unless u know far more than almost anyone. They are programmed to suit and can’t be dashed or reprogrammed as far as I’m told. And failures can be wiring insulation, transistors, or mechanical wear causing sensors to not work. They are an expensive pig
