I've noticed that my D22 suffers much more than other 4WD when it comes to speed bumps. I have to approach them really slowly to avoid getting bounced around in the cabin.

It's a 2005 STR model, had 170,000km on the clock before i bought it.

Just wondering if this is something that i should just get used to, - I don't want to fork out on new gear if this is just the way it rides. - However, I feel as though perhaps the shocks on the front aren't great.
And when i was reading through the forums I've heard mention that the weight of the bullbar on front can cause this sort of issue.

Any recommendations would be great.

Thanks,
Evan

I have 2" Tough Dog with a steel bull bar and its a little rough on road im use to it now, you could have a chat to a specialist like Pedders and have it tested, they will give you the information you need and test the vehicles travel for what its carrying.
To guess, i would say its normal mine bounces more in the ass when empty and thats normal, with speed bumps etc the front rides smoother then the rear if that makes sense.
Hope this helps.

Cheers Steve

If the front is rough might be the torsion bar is wind up to max - check it
Also check shocks if they're shot

standard shocks do not last long and rear springs sag fairly quickly. the rear springs tend to hit the stops rather hard.
extra leaf on the rear springs (2" lift) and new shocks all round will sort it.

Thanks guys! I'll tighten up the torsion bar and take it to Pedders for a quote. (tech check and inspect) :)

Any recommended shocks for road use?

Can you explain what is involved in adding an extra leaf to the rear suspension? From what I know, it involves adding a leaf in between the overload leaf and the leaf above it...
Where do I get the extra leaf from?

Cheers,
Evan
