How to change sidelight bulbs.

I feel a bit of a numpty asking this, but how do you replace sidelight bulbs in the halogen headlight model NP300. I’ve twisted off the electrical connection behind the bulb but I can’t see how the bulb comes out, and the manual is as clear as mud. Surely, you don’t have to take the lens off the headlamp, or do you?
