Sensor in air intake D22 06

Could any one educate me about a sensor that is said to be located in the air intake.....
Firstly is there one ?
And if so does it require periodic cleaning ?

diesel engine?
is so its intake air sensor. doesn't really need cleaning unless you go through heaps of dust. i pull it out and clean when i change the air filter.

could you describe to me where the sensor is ?
Can a dirty sensor effect the performance of the vehicle ?

the sensor is on the air intake hose before the main air filter. you can pull it straight out its not fastened down by anything. its between the filter and the body work.

not sure about it effecting performance. dirt will make the sensor slow to react. i can't see it making a big impact.

The sensor your talking about is just a air temp sensor mate
