G'day,

I'm trying to buy a spare starter motor before a long and very remote trip (automatic trans, so cant roll start if any dramas).

When looking online, there seems to be 2 x different starter motors... 11-Tooth & 12-Tooth.

Question: please does anyone know if there is a way to tell which one I need without physically removing the current starter motor?

Cheers :)

As near as I can tell your starter should be a Mitsubishi M8T76071ZE. I searched for this on EvilBay and got several appropriate hits. The D40 petrol vehicle had a different starter (M1TA0072) which had different power output (petrol is easier to start than diesel).

Cheers Tony... I think I need to research a little more. It is interesting that Repco for the YD25 list 2 options (11 & 12 tooth... say both fit but who knows)?
