Hi, I’m new to the forum, I have a 2017 NP300 and love it. Having previously owned a Mitsubishi L200 my Navara is so much better. I don’t spend anytime towing or using off road or carrying any large weights. I‘d like it improve the road ride, making it smoother and more car like. Ive been advised to change the tyres for a softer compound and read that shocks can also add to a softer ride. Does anyone have any experience of this and what is that? Thanks

Softer compound tyres will grip better but wear faster. Reducing the air pressure in the tyres will improve their "bounce" so the car rides a little smoother but you will notice slightly increased wear and (if monitoring this with TPMS) extra heat in the tyres. Lower pressure tyres should NOT be relied upon for stability in high speed corners.

Aftermarket suspension options are quite varied. Anything that encourages a curve in the springs (like most of them) will provide a lift as well. Factory springs are almost flat because this provides the most car-like ride.

Shocks are just motion dampeners. Heavy duty shocks designed for high loads are probably going to be too stiff for you, but some shock manufacturers allow for different valving providing different dampening rates (meaning you can choose to have softer shocks as well).

It;'s best to speak to a supplier that can provide both so that they're matched. Back in 2012 (might have been 2011) I went to ARB (an Australian 4WD specialist) for mine and had them fit all new springs and all new shocks matching my requirements and these are still working perfectly today.
