Hey Shane, Welcome to the forum. That's excatly how my 4lo has always worked. đź‘Ť Depending on where I'm driving (say it's up a sandy hill),when in 4hi, I hit the button to turn off the VDC aswell

As far as I'm aware of the way it works, VDC will limit power when wheels start to slip - Im not sure if it brakes as well or limits the power to the individual wheel.. ( That second part definitely sounds a little fancy , so please dont take this all as gospel)
I know that the power limiter (again- say up a sandy hill) will hinder your ability to make it up easily so at that time I'll turn the VDC off or go 4LO..

To answer your question, No - I useally let the car do what it is until I know that I'll need that little bit of extra spin/ bounce to get up
