Whats the best gearbox oil?

Just wondering what people use and recommend. My 2004 d22 is due for new 'box oil and i'm after some insight. Hoping to remedy the sticky 1st gear downshifts maybe even.

i used valvoline duragear i think thats what its called... did a bit of reading and it came up fairly often as reccomended

Was that a gl4 oil? Did you notice any difference as opposed to standard- ie quieter, smoother shifts?

yeah it was gl4 mate. cant remember if it shifted any better, but it wasnt bad to start with so it didnt 'fix' anything. got over 200k kms on the clock and synchros are still working perfectly. no gbox noise or anything.
