Hey guys..

I know these topics are kind of repetitive but I surfed all 16 pages of threads and didnt get an answer.

I have an 06 Navara DX single cab... Im definitely gettin 3" Mandrel Bent.

my question is.. I live in qld.. Is it worth it, just deleting the cat...

I dont want it too loud, but i want a bit of extra sound but at the same time I am worried about the legalities of having no cat, whats the deal?

Would the 3inch turbo back dumppipe with hi flow cat be the way for me.. would the cat muffle it abit more than just a straight pipe?

Or do I knock out the guts of the cat?

Cheers for your help

holly crap a 10k fine for no cat??

What if i just knocked the guts out :p ?

Depends if you get picked up and need a emmisions test.

Most cops wouldn't even know a diesel had a cat.

Up to you, I upgraded my cat.

Dave.

when i got mine done, the exhaust guy said without the cat it would blow massive black clouds of smoke.
A hi flow cat is the way to go and 3 inch all the way.
Its not very loud at all...sounds great.

I have no cat, or mufflers, 3" straight through from the dump pipe. There was no significant increase in noise, power or smoke.

I think it's a urban myth about CAT's been restrictive.

They say you might gain 1 or 2hp by removing the cat.

Not worth the fine for such a small gain.

Dave.

with the zd30 D22 the biggest gain from exhaust mods is changing the main muffler.
removing cat and fitting dump pipe doesn't change power but it makes boost come on quicker which makes it a bit better in the lower rpm range.
