unknown part and what it does?

I have this sensor that is one of three on the side of the thermostat housing, the two wires are just hanging out of the sensor and i dont know if it does anything or any harm not being plugged in.

Nissan want $130.00 for a new one

can anyone help me, here is a couple of pics.

Mate cant help sorry.

Diagrams I have dont list it, the outer sensor is for the Glow plug controller. The middle is the dash temp gauge.

The third I got no idea.

Seperate water temp sensor for ECU?
Sensor for thermofan shutoff?

No ECM on a QD32, but I think you might be right about the thermo.

Id say its a switch to switch the thermo on if the engine is running hot.

Check the thermo circuit.
