Ive got a coolant smell coming from my vents when the heater is on in my 2011 Stx 450. Any ideas whats causing it would be great before I take it into my dealer.

They have just replaced both front calipers so will see what happens now.

I had the same problem twice and it was the clock spring(thats what the mechanic called it) that was the problem. Replaced this and it was all fine again. The horn, cruise control and radio switches all use this.

Your problem could be whats called the clock spring. My cruise control stopped working along with the horn. Had the clock spring replaced and the problem was solved until the same thing happened for the second time.

I have 3 Nav stx, 2008 2wd done 296000k, 2011 450 done 23000k and a 2012 2wd done 7000k. Had a good run out of older 1 so am hoping for the same with the newer two.

They have a netrual position sensor in the gearbox. These clap out so is most likely the problem. The clock springs in the steering wheel can also cause problems i have had two replaced.

I understand the process but to have 2 service appointments that both only take 5 mins is a major hassle for people who dont work/live in town near dealer.
