    Possible starter motor issue

Hi, I had a previous thread in this section "Clunk on engine start" but I now have more information. The problem is that intermittently when starting, as soon as the engine fires there is a quick single clunk, doesn't happen all the time. I have now found that if I switch off the engine and then...

    Clunk on engine start

In the last few weeks I sometimes hear a single clunk sound from the engine when starting when cold. Engine turns over as normal, immediately when the engine fires a single clunk can sometimes be heard, usually in about 1 in 10 times. When the engine has warmed up it doesn't happen. Everything...

    D22 alternator help please

Hi all, Every so often the alternator light stays on after starting and won't go out until the revs increase by 500 then all is ok. Then it may happen again in a day or two. Its a Hitachi Lr160 60A. I'm thinking that the brushes might be suspect as they are really the only thing that really...

    Fitted Steinbauer, very happy!

Hi all, Took the plunge and had a Steinbauer chip installed by Rankin Diesel in Bayswater, Vic. In a word...brilliant. Makes the vehicle run to its potential. Why don't Nissan make them that way in the first place? Turbo spools up a lot quicker, and there is a appreciable increase in power and...

    Clutch potential problem

Hi all, Had an experience today towing the caravan, had to stop at lights on a medium steep hill, and this yoyo in front of me decided to slow a bit after just starting causing me to have to slip the clutch. Spender, Did you drain the recovered oil into the sump or use a check valve and drain into a separate container? How often would the filter need changing? Geoff

Stereo controls not working after battery change

Try disconnecting all power to the radio, leaving off for a while, maybe up to 30 minutes then cleanly reconnecting. Sometimes microprocessors in gadgets get upset when power issues happen, can't hurt to try. Probably is a PIN issue though. Cheers Geoff

Not servicing at Nissan, ECU updates?

I haven't been getting any servicing done at Nissan apart from the original 1000 km and then 10,000km. I have a good mechanic that has been doing the work. Have I missed out on any ECU updates or tuning that they might do as part of the normal servicing cycle or am I on the wrong track? Or...

From the Scintex website... K type thermocouple with exposed tip junction for fast response time. Seems the probe diameter may not be the issue. Good point about the dial gauge, maddogrc. Geoff
