The new van nearly killed the Nav

Hi Tony, Yes the tanks are tied together. And, yes I should have bought the auto Navara. Still with that little bit more capacity & the 7 speed transmission, I think it will be a lot easier for my wife to handle if the medico's stop me driving. I have just finished a course of radiation on my...

Thanks for that Krafty. A bit of a let down I know, but goes like the clappers & will tow 3.5T. Cheers, Phil

The new van nearly killed the Nav

Sad days. Bought a new van at Christmas, 2.5t empty & was quietly confident we could tow it easily enough with the manual D40. Took it to Bendigo from Geelong & apart from a little extra revs on take off, not too bad. Decided to to off to Halls Gap at Easter. A few hills & 2000+ RPM take offs &...

    !!!!!!!attention!!!!!!!

I'm not saying Swan is not a champion, but he is not quite in the class of an Ablett or Judd just yet. And with Judd's & Ablett's disposal both in the 80%+ range I am sure if they demand the ball & I was their team mate it would be a no brainer.

    !!!!!!!attention!!!!!!!

I agree Judd is a champion, even if he can elbow an opponent in the face, get off & still win the Brownlow. Regarding Dane Swan, if you check his disposals, he is 54%efficient compared to Judd at 82%. Maybe the umpires notice the little things like that.

    coil helpers

G'day melly. I have not had any experience with the coil helper springs, but I fitted a pair of Ironman Load Plus helper springs. I don't carry much weight in the tub, but every now & then my wife wants a load of loam for the garden & the thing wallows, sits on the bump stops & handles like a...

    Bridgestone 694LT's

Thanks guys. I have spent a fair amount of time checking them out over the last couple of days & have decided to give them a go. Bosshog, I read a testimonial from Dave Wilson of Adventure 4WD in SA & he has the 265/75's on his D40. He has done about 25,000K & recons they would be good for...

    Bridgestone 694LT's

I have been looking at replacing the Continentials with the Bridgestone 694LT's. A friend of mine has them on his D40 in 265/75R16 & is very impressed so far (about 20.000k's). He seems to do the same sort of driving as me. About 80-90% on the black stuff, a bit on gravel & around the bush...

What dont you like about your Navara.

Just for you guys regarding the "Auto up" on the driver's window. I am sure there is a post somewhere with the procedure. From memory, I fully opened the window & held the button for another 5 seconds, then closed the window & held the button down for another 5 seconds. That was it. Cheers, Phil

    Fuel consumption.

I also agree with Tony & the other guys. Last Christmas we towed our van (1.6T + about 400kgs of junk) to Bendigo & I pushed the truck to 110kph as often as the conditions allowed. Result was milage between 14.6l/100k & 18.2l/100k. This year I kept the speed between 90-95kph & the milage was...

    Back on Deck

I really would like to thank everyone for thier kind thoughts & messages of encouragement before & during my recent little bout with Liver Cancer. I had the right side of my Liver & my Gaul bladder removed on the 26th of Nov. for those that missed the excitment. Started work this morning & even...

    Daylight robbery (D40 40,000km service)

Credit where credit is due. I changed back to my local dealer for my 20,000k service as I was very unhappy with the local 4WD shop (Rally Motors) that had been servicing my car. The dealer had a driver take me to work, pick me up when "I" wanted & completed the service for $280.00 (I notice in...

    VNOG - forum meet up.

Thanks guys. Let me assure you now, I intend to be around for a lot longer yet. I am humbled though by the warmth & care offered to me by so many people I hardly know & some I have yet to meet. Thank you once again, I will keep you informed. Cheers, Phil

    Trustworthy Mechanics.

One in Geelong I won't be using again. Rally Off Road. Nissan did my first service, then I took the car to Rally Off Road for the 10,000 & 15,000k services. After the 10,000k service it leaked oil from the sump plug for the next 5,000k. The mechanic tried to tell me it was oil dripping from the...

    VNOG - forum meet up.

I have been waiting for a trip like this to meet you guys, & I would have been in like Flynn normally, but I have just found out I share more than a gray beard with Deryn Hinch. I have been diagnosed with a liver tumor & need an operation to remove the right hand side of the liver & my gall...
