and yes it's a really good vehicle. Traction control off road works better than you would think to be honest. I'd take TC over LSD any day but nothing beats a locker Issues well, all cars do. And I blocked the EGR so I will not have any issues or manifold sooting up. Very strong block as well...

all running gear except the 4wd system is the same. GLX has easy select (4l 4hi 2h) whereas GLXR has the super select (4l locked centre diff 4hi locked centre diff, 4hi like all wheel drive and 2H)

Went from a nice D22 to this mate bought her brand new with nothing on it... Looked shocking standard but after a bit of bar work and steel wheels she came up nicely, still plenty more to go though

Are the injector pumps less likely to die in the later 3L models? 05 06 models or are they all just as susceptible?

common rail haha :p the nav worked for me which is why I'm rather keen to go back to one. Low k's of course, but the ZD fuel pump worries me :p

Am I stupid? I'll let you all be the judge. So I sold my beloved D22 last June & bought a brand new triton. Not a fan of these new common rail systems (nothing wrong with the triton, great car and value) however I missed the truck like feel my 3l nav had so I'm selling it to buy a 3L nav...

ahh yeah good point. My diesel mechanic friend said it's a good idea to use 2 stroke oil especially in newer common rail diesels because of how hard the injectors work. So guess it would be good for the ZD30 as well. Could extra filtration help too?

How can one best reduce the chances of a ZD30 injector pump letting go? Seeing as they cost nearly the same as a brand new engine to replace....

Yeah they're not the greatest at all... So I'm looking at a jap built D22 (3L) because the japs know how to build a good car. Unlike these Thai built shits!

New cars are buckets of poop! The build just feels cheap and nasty. I've only done 10,000 kms and I've been back for warranty recalls and other crap (not including the first service) 7 times. Not impressed at all. Plus the nav was awesome, old school dinosaur electronics which meant way less to...

Yeah true I suppose. Also, could it be said that the quality of vehicles produced by, say, Nissan nowadays isn't the same as they used to be?

One thing I would love to know is: With all this great common rail technology... Why the bloody hell are manufacturers going from 3.0L to 2.5L (Nissan example in the d22) and like Mitsubishi 3.2 (which was also common rail) to 2.5's? Bigger engine would surely mean better off idle power? Toyota...

Yeah the k's don't worry me it's the fact that it may have sat dormant for too long and things may have seized up. He claims he drove it one a week but of course wen you're selling a car you'll say anything to make a sale :p
