hi folks got a bit of a problem with a mates car. it from time to timeit shuts down limp mode. it has a unichip blocked egr and standard pipe. ive put my ultragauge on it and it can boost upto 18 psi but i dont know if ths is to much. it hapens if you give a good kickin off the lights or say going up a hill going at it a bit and you back ooff and put your foot back on. bang limp mode but now this is irregular wont happen every time thanks folks

First thing to do is disconnect the Unichip and try it without it. Boost is not excessive either.

Yep Unichip first. Do a ECU reset and take it from there. Boost is fine. I saw 20 psi on mine once, no problems.

Sounds just like the SCV to me. D40s can boost to 24psi (I've had mine up near there up a hill with the caravan on the back).

Replacing the SCV is a possibility but you might save some coin if you try cleaning it first. Wash thoroughly in petrol, then rinse really well in diesel before reinstallation. If that doesn't fix it, throw it out.
