Also if you go 8 gauge/mm make sure you check size thoroughly. Metric sizes in auto tend to not be in mm2, so 8mm auto cable is only say 6mm2, which then starts becoming insufficient. Not a problem with AWG, but is with metric.

so 8 mm2 should b fine

8mm2 would be fine, but dont go any smaller if only running from the one heavy duty relay

I usually just run the earth to activate the relay into the cab and just earth it through the switch in the cab so you only need to run one wire through the firewall
