Has anyone had any problems with bridgstone dueler at's? Mine have only done 20k and had them since new, but they are nearly completely worn. I dont drive like an idiot and dont brake hard, run the pressure at around 36-38 psi (have been told that 40 psi is recomended by dealers coz they wear quicker and your buying new tyres sooner). Theyre wearing more so in the center of the tyre. Also looking at getting a set of black sunnies and bf goodies to replace the lot, any suggestion on size or other tyres? Would like a bigger and wider tyre if possible.

Wearing in the centre indicates the pressure is too high. Are the fronts and rears the same wear pattern?

any reason for harder pressure in rears? carrying loads?

mine ahve done almost 40000kms and have different wear patterns from front to back.

fronts are wearing the outsides and the insides are good.
rears are weating insides out and the shoulders of the tires.

i rotate regularly so pressures change all the time. the fronts will give me another 5000 but the rears are at the wear indicator cause the middles are worn out.

Wearing the fronts on the outside indicates either poor camber or harsh cornering.

I've not liked Bridgestone tyres for a good many years. I tried some Duellers on our L300 4WD and they wore terribly, no matter how many wheel alignments I had done (and I even had a suspension specialist replace the torsion bars and spend hours setting it up right and double checking). Bridgestone tyres on my motorbike were a disaster - where I'd get 6,000km on Pirelli, and 10,000km on Dunlop Arrowmax or Avon Roadrunners, I'd get 2,000km on Bridgestone Mag Mopus tyres and have bugger-all grip.

If you were asking me, I'd only put Bridgestone tyres on a vehicle that I was about to detonate in a live-firing exercise.

Even the factory Continentals outlast your tyres - I got 47,300km on mine. Just notched 20,000km on the BFG ATs now and they're still looking strong - and they have good grip too, so it wasn't a trade-off of endurance vs grip.

It does sound like your rear pressures are too high. I'd first try someone else's pressure gauge because 36 isn't that high - we drop our pressures to 30psi for mud and rough tracks. I generally have my tyres around 40psi for the road.

Mine have done 14000 and wearing quickly, i guess 30k will pull them up.

I think the factory fit are soft for maximum traction.

Greg

My last set of Bridgestones did almost 80000 k's. Most of which was highway driving. I have been running them on the Nav since new and also on the Patrol I had previous. I have noticed that the initial set on both vehicles from the factory did seem to wear a bit quicker but on average I get 50 to 60 thou out of replacements. They are regularly rotated but I am pretty slack with the pressures. They got checked every 10 thou when the vehicles were serviced.

The best thing about the Dueller AT's is that they do wear quickly and then you can put some decent rubber on your Nav.

They are a very ordinary tyre.

.

Let's clarify what tyre is being referred to here. The Bridgestone Dueler in an AT format comes in three different models that I can think of.

  • D693
  • D694
  • D694LT
There are at least another four 'dueler' branded tyres made by Bridgestone.

I have done 50,000kms with my D694LTs. Sure they are wearing out but they'll easily get to 60,000kms before they are stuffed - and they have not had an easy life.

This akin to arguing over what is the best beer, however I cannot say a bad thing about either D693 (which we run on our company utes around town) nor the D694LTs on the D40.

I would agree, a very quick wearing tyre, mine only did around 35,000ks, wouls have expected a bit more.

There a shit tyre the standard D22 tyre.

I got 38,000km's out of mine and that was just about bald.

However I am pretty sure they were the tyres that I had the Nav up to $1.60.

+1 on that shit tyres and a disgrace nissan still put em on 35000 n mine r stuffed

I just bought a LT694 a week ago from Maitland. So many negative stories, yet ive read alot of good things too.
Im sort of hoping to get at least 60k or so out of them.
Ill spew if i get half that like others.

20k so far and judging by the wear, I'd expect 50K out of them. I use the 4psi rule, and that normally means 36 psi cold. I couldn't say that I think they handle well or poorly.

I got 30 000 kms from my Duelers which is piss poor considering the cost of them. 90% highway driving and 10% gravel roads. I lost one 2 days after buying from new on the Tanami Track after 100 kms, stone ripped straight through the side wall. I lost all confidence in them after that.

I have since bought a full set of BFG A/Ts and went up a size from 265/70/R16 to 265/75/R16. Knocked the speedo out slightly but damn they look good!

I've done 30000 k on my duelers probably got 5,000 k to go. Shit tyres. Run 36 psi and they r chewing the inside out. Time for some 33s.
