Hi there just wondering what made you change the scv and what were the results as mine has lost all pickup from idle and taking off from start with a load on has become a balancing act with the clutch and throttle. And very easy to stall any hints would be greatly appreciated

Hey Rascal, if you're getting black smoke I wonder how's your turbocharger? D40s are pretty gutless until the turbo starts singing. Could just ve a bad vac hose ($20 fix), bad turbo solenoid ($30 fix) or a bad turbocharger (recommend Forefront around $800). Otherwise it could be SCV, worth trying some Liqui Moly Fuel System Treatment ($25 at SCA) before shelling for the SCV ($110 for that one, but check if yours is long or short first).

Usual sign of a SCV is rough idle when first started that gradually goes into an Idle Hunt the longer its left.

Quick way to check is remove SCV, clean with fresh deisel ensuring the little piston moves freely and replace rotated 180C from how you removed it.

If it is your SCV, this generally sorts the issue for a short period, however it will still need replacing.
