1991 Datsun Navara td23 5spd column shift D21 double cab.

Hey Iv installed a new clutch kit and slave cylinder from butler auto mart and it wont disengage.

So far i know

With the car off i can go through every gear.

With the car running . it Grinds and wont go into any gear.

can start the car in gear and drive off.

no funny noises from the gearbox.

i Checked the clutch plate before i put it in i am certain it is the right way round.

A few attempts fitting the gearbox once it lined up it went in smooth.

Clutch pedal is weak it was weak with the old clutch.

have bleed the clutch and checked the slave cylinder is moving on the clutch fork. no matter how much i bleed it i cant get decent pressure. bleeding procedure is..

topping up the master cylinder full .
release slave valve .
push clutch to floor .
close slave valve .
release clutch pedal
repeated ruffly 8 times.

Any ideas? im thinking i will take it all back apart to inspect the clutch plate this week end . i would hate to do the job again to find out it wasnt necessary.

Thanks for reading.

if you have the car running and you put the clutch in and count slowly to 10 does it go into gear alright if it does its your master

i had a smiler problem with a Holden many years ago turned out to be a crack in the clutch fork allowing it to flex and not disengage the clutch fully

by the way to bleed a clutch
push pedal to the floor
THEN
crack the bleeder open
close the bleeder
lift pedal
repeat
if you can see the clutch fork you should see it move when you crack the bleeder open
