D22 clicking noise

Hey guys my 05 str has developed a clicking noise when under load in 4wd only I have replaced the front cvs thinking it was that but the noise is still there one of my mates said it might be the chain in the transfer case have any of you ever heard of this?

I have just gone through the same thing. Is the clinking noise really loud?
I ended up replacing the entire transfer case and it fixed it.
When i pulled the old transfer apart the chain was super stretched but i couldnt see anything broken. So i agree its the chain slipping a cog inside but im no mechanic

Ok cool is it easier to replace the chain or the whole transfer case

You are better off going to the wreckers and buying another transfer case

How do you people kill your transfer chains ?

Anything a patrol can do my nav can lol I killed it on my second 4x4 trip so may have been some old owner punishment

I had to replace my transfer case about 12 months ago. I suspect the owner before me was driving around in 4wd on hard surfaces.
