im getting a loud nocking noise in 4wd but only under acceleration and deceleration (engine braking) and it sound like its coming from my front driveshaft or transfer case. visualy inspected my driveshaft this arvo and couldnt see any damage or any clues as tho where the nois is coming from.

any ideas on what my problem is or tips on how to find out? besides paying a mechanic thousands to tel me i need a new flux copasitor because he thinks im a nube

i had a similar noise a couple of years back !! it ended up being a stretched chain in the transfer case !!! Only happened in low range when under load

Same thing happened to me in a coily Zuke under low gear load.

im getting the noise in high and low 4. is a transfer case chain major surgery for a do it yourselfer with slightly more experience than your average joe or is it quite simple

it will set you back aroound $ 1800 not cheap for a chain !! In my opion i would get a mechanic who specialises in gear boxes to do the job !! it will be muck cheaper if you remove the transfer case yourself and take it there !!

Guys my new D22 is also doing this only whenever the hubs are locked & more noticeable when turning left at a decent speed. Is it likely to be the same problem?
