You're thinking of putting in a new engine without knowing what's wrong with the current one? What if it's the classic 20c part?

I know there comes a time when you have to cut and run, but it's been worked on by someone for this long and they haven't identified the problem, I would suggest they don't know what they are doing.
 
im not going to just do it, im waiting on them to find out whats wrong

but so far they cant find anything brocken etc

QDAD are one of the best diesel specialists around next nearest guy is on the northside and that aint worth a 400 tow
 
I dare say the 2012 ECU will have other issues as well, like interaction with the BCM, TCM and ABS systems which all changed from 2007.

It could probably still be done - you'd gain a few horses too. Hope you find your current engine has a minor issue and you don't need to go to all the expense and hassle of replacing the whole donk.
