Engine light after replacing starter

Hi guys i replaced my starter 5/6 months ago and since then constantly getting engine light the starter isn't chucking in straight away it takes a second or 2 to kick in any 1 else had this problem?

I'd suspect the earth strap connected to the side of the engine. Remove it, inspect it, clean it, put it back. It's been reported a few times.

I put the old starter back in its making noise but no engine light like the new one does

Now that's annoying. The D22 has less sensors than the D40, and there's no sensor on the D40 to say whether or not the starter is there (they probably thought it'd be obvious).

It would be interesting to see what code is being presented when the engine light comes on.
