Gear won't engage

Have an automatic 2010, select drive revs but nothing to the wheels.

The torque converter may have a fault, or the valve body ... it might be as simple as the cable to the gearbox is loose/broken.

What happens if you pull the gear lever back to 1 or 2?

Found that the dipstick is missing and shot all the fluid out.so I'm trying to find a new dipstick and the steel tube that holds it incase it broke off. Thank you very much for your response.
