Today I pulled the trim up around the gear shift and found that holding the boot to the gearbox shaft is a white / yellowish cable tie.
Now the folks at Nissan Thailand haven't bothered to cut off the excess and of course I found 2 cuts in the boot.
When I select 2nd or 4th the cable tie rubs on the boot causing two nice little grooves.
Easy fix by cutting the tail off the cable tie and silicon up the slits.
Could be a water ingress point so have a look.
