Approx five months ago the boost solinoid on the d40 failed leaving me in the middle of nowhere with no boost. It was replaced by a nissan dealer in the area and all has been go untill now. Over the last couple of weeks i have noticed a kind of thumping noise at idle so i went on the hunt to find out what it was. I initially thought it would be something rubbing or banging off the body but after an hour of not finding the noise i realised it was in sync with the actuator on the turbo. On touching the solinoid it was obvious it is the source of the noise. Its a kind of groaning thump and only does it at idle. Anyone seen this before? Hope im not up for another solinoid
