removing alloy gear cover from zd30 ?

hi, finally got harmonic balancer of, by tapping with a hammer from behind it, turn crank around a bit more then tap again, took a while but got it of.

now water pump is of etc... i have moved the alloy plate about 3/4 inch or so away from the front of block, and it doesnt seem to want to move any further.... i did notice on the left hand side of the plate there is a plug with a 3/4 inch square hole in it, does this need to be removed ?

Why are you taking the cover off? Don't need to remove harmonic balancer.
The plug with the square hole is for installing a locking bolt In to the three piece gear behind the cover.
Maybe you need to down load the service manual ( in the d22 section of this forum) before doing anything else.

???? timing gear

i have to get the timing gear with the " cc " on it of. and you HAVE to take the timing cover off , and you HAVE to take the balancer off....

Thought you meant the timing cover.
Maybe explain why your pulling it off to help everyone understand what your doing.
