Roof basket without front and rear

I'm looking for a roof basket I can use on my d40. Main reason is so that I can mount some reverse/work lights, shovel, and when I go camping a swag etc if I run out of space in the tub /canopy.

Only thing is, I use my roof racks sometimes to pick up large items or tie down my wide fishing kayak. I've seen some blokes driving around with tracks that don't have the front or rear 'wall' of the basket which should suit my purpose. Catch is, I don't know much about them!
Any ideas or thoughts would be great!

I got my roof rack from a guy, custom built to my specs size etc, I think it was $750 delivered.

I got mine from him also he is based at salt ash north of newcastle. Custom make them to any size also.
