Timing chain tensioner

Just wondering if anyone has changed the tensioner only for the timing chain? Since that is the first thing to go and then cause the chain to stretch etc I was thinking change the tensioner every 100k or less and it should preserve the chain yea?

That said I don't know what's involved in doing this?

The tensioner that has been known to fail is the upper one. It bears NO relationship with the simplex lower chain that stretches.

The lower chain tensioner is not a problem and it is a massive job to get at it anyway.
