tire size, 265 75 16 or 285 75 16

in need of new tyres, currently got 285 75 16s. thinking of downsizing to help reduce chances of breaking shit. already got a stuffed transfer case. (anyone got a spare?)

i worked out by down sizing i will lose just over 25mm diameter and a lose of 12mm in height.

just want opinions to give me both sides of the argument.

265/75/16 suit the navs better i reckon and as you said less chance of breaking stuff!!

12mm is 12mm having IFS you need all the height you can get your hands on.
Try 235/85/R16 there tall yet thin. Just like my missus hahaha tall maybe...

If you can afford it a set of diff gears will bring the drive train to stock strains.
But still keep an eye on the bearings.
