tonneau removal

hey there, just got 08 d40 with genuine hard tonneau cover and not sure how to remove gas struts to take off cover. Strut brackets are fixed to tray with rivets. Does strut just pop out of knuckle or do i need to remove whole bracket and replace with screws

I'm pretty sure there should be a plastic cir clip on the knuckle that you slide back than you can just pull the stut off the bracket.

There is a metal clip on each end of the strut on mine. You need to slide a small flat blade screw driver under it (there should be a channel in the plastic) and pop the clip out and the strut pops off the mount. Make sure you are supporting the tonneau cover when you do it
