I never used my ash trays when I smoked. Made my cat or the truck stink! I lived in the truck 24/7 for up to 8 weeks at a time.
I heard all the stories about not using the ash tray because it stank the place up! Easy, do what I did, I had a sauce jar that all butts went into. I had it zippy tied to the handle on the a pillar of the truck. Stink was caught in that and I never had to worry about being responsible for starting a fire and destroying someone's life. Also kept the stink down in the truck.
By the way I don't smoke now.
