So,... just had the D40 serviced and they found that the EGR pipe was cracked. Ok then, I asked them if it would be okay if I just got it welded. They said yes.
To save a little time they came up with a second hand one which had the flange broken off at the turbo end and I got that one fixed (welded) and installed that one.
All good, until coming back from the bush after the long weekend, a strange noise started to come from the engine. Sounds kinda like a fast rattle under certain revs, mainly under acceleration, then dies off and sounds normal again. If I put it in 'park' and give it a rev, the turbo squeal is very loud.
I am wondering if this could be the welds broken around the flange again or another split?. Any ideas before I take it back to Nissan?
I have the EGR blanking plate at the top end also.
