Longer crank, rough idle and white smoke.

White smoke in a diesel is unburnt fuel, can be caused by low compression, very cold air temps causing incomplete combustion etc. If you are not in a cold climate get a compression test first.

Really need advice with my tyres. Someone has !@#$ed with my car again.

It'll be fine, looks like its just gone through the lug. Wouldn't surprise me if it was picked up while driving. I used to work in a true service years ago and saw the weirdest stuff stuck in tyres in the strangest places.

    Back seat removal (temporary)

I have the ARB tie downs so no sliding about on mine, I will cover it in carpet to improve the looks but it's not a permanent fixture in there. It will come out after use, as I said 5 minutes and the seats are back in good as new. I must say the 60 litre ARB fridge is a squeeze through the tiny...

    Back seat removal (temporary)

I wanted to be able to fit my 60 litre ARB fridge in the back for weekends away so here's the shelf I made. I do loop the two lap sash seat belts through the handles on the fridge to stop it flying about in the event of an accident. It takes about 5 minutes to remove both seat parts and bolt...

I'm looking to fit a second battery and winch to my 2012 D22 this weekend. Problem I have is the dodgy looking positive battery terminal, how do you guys add two more heavy cables to the std terminal? Any pictures would be appreciated.

What broke on your Cape Trip?

After reading a few threads and doing some searching I thought it would make a good thread topic and try to get a list of what you broke, what trouble you had and how many of the spares that you packed got used.

Stripped splines in torsion bar adjuster

Maybe a lubricant issue, grease gets washed out or deteriorates and the casting wears until there's not enough spline left to support the weight? This could explain why the newly fitted bars ha an issue, mechanic didn't grease the splines on the socket AND bar before fitting. What year models...

    Avenger Mako Winch

Has anyone here purchased/installed an Avenger Mako winch into a Jap D22 with a steel bar? Wondering about the fit and the quality, these winches got a super write up in the comparison done by 4wdaction mag.

    Recovery points

I looked at the thickness of those suckers and reckon you could cut them in half and they would still be twice as strong as the nuts in the chassis, remember to use an equaliser strap with some common sense and I'm sure it'll be OK.

    4x4 Issue

It creates an incredible load on the drive line, tries to turn axles and shafts into a corkscrew. If you do this the best way to relieve the tension is to roll back some and de-select 4x4
