    steinbauer chip

The ecu has no idea that a SB chip is installed as it is directly overdriving the injectors. Any roughness would indicate a wiring problem basically. The throttle wire just turns the chip off when you come back under a certain throttle percentage. DTUK do chips for a very competitive price.

    Dtronic chip zd30

More that likely it is the harness that had an issue, it was a reasonably common issue with old d-tronic chips. The unichip itself can be hard wired to the vehicle and will work flawlessly for years to come for a fraction of the price of buying a new chip.

    D40 ECU Re-map

I have said it a thousand times. The reflash scene for diesels is hopeless in Australia. None of the parent companies want dealers to have master reflash software to make their own tunes because it means they wont be selling the partent company premade tunes and thus they will loose out on...

    d40 rattle? knock?

Dont let it go to long without getting it checked. The most common cause of rattles in these engines when cold is A) Timing chain starting to fail B) Injectors starting to fail. If it is any amount louder when cold instead of hot, it is pointing towards a problem that you should be looking...

    Cheap batteries in brisbane

What brand did they quote you on then?

    Air/fuel gauge

Not really worth it, the 4.2's are more expensive and a worse sensor than the 4.9 anyway.

    D40 ECU Re-map

The problem is not that there is a few bad eggs spoiling it for the good ones. Its the scarcity of good ones, with a minefield of bad eggs.

    Cheap batteries in brisbane

Well you have conflicting interests in your post, if you are after something cheap then I think the price you have been given is actually pretty good for a 120ah. I know there is alot of more expensive ones out there in that capacity range.

D40 not running properly while cold

The issue sounds more like injectors than anything else to me. If the engine temp is above about 20deg they will start without any glow plug assistance pretty easily. Once its running, they dont really need to be on at all. I know the SCV does cause some issues, but the biggest one Ive found...

    Thick black smoke

First thing to check is boost level. Just this week gone I have replaced 3 boost control solenoid's in D40's. Week prior I did 2. If the timing chain had come loose, he would be pushing the car... Not complaining of excessive smoke. Tell the guy to grow a pair and get the problem diagnosed...

    Air/fuel gauge

A specific o2 sensor is supplied with each of the various brands of afr meters. You dont know the scaling of the stock sensor so there is no way to really use it. I dont even know if they are a linear or narrowband type sensor tbh. These days the run of the mill is a bosch lsu4.9 sensor that...

    Air/fuel gauge

Dont go near innovate or aem stuff. The quality is terrible over the last few years. Nothing like the old stuff used to be. One of the best products out there is made in Australia anyway. Techedge is the name of the company. I use them for pretty much all setups I do from street to track cars...

No worries, just thought id clear it up lol. Be a shame for such a good shop to be dragged into this debacle.

    Warning warning warning Powerchip

Powertune has nothing to do with this guy and is probably one of the best tuning outfits in Australia. But seriously, all the internet articles aside. The tuning and service he has given the few customers I have read about are just about what you would expect from someone with little to no...

    Tuned D40 - Chewing fuel + others..

Mate just threaten them with legal action if they dont put it back to stock. Sounds like the guy has no idea, just as the company I decided to use. Who has done the tune out of curiosity, just to see if its the same people.

    fuel ratio ASAP

18:1 is good for maximum power but bad for engine longevity. 20:1 is a good balance more so for power 22:1 is spot on for longevity 24:1 is perfect for constant heavy towing. 16:1 is perfect for putting holes in pistons, more so than that the amount of extra power you make from 18 down to 16...

    Tuned D40 - Chewing fuel + others..

I made the mistake of using a company over here in QLD to do a flash tune for a customer that wanted a dpf delete so we could also get rid of any potential codes that might come up etc... What an absolute nightmare. I now know for a fact that the guys doing these tunes know nothing about what...

D40 rear diff pinion oil seal

You can remove the flange without needing to touch anything inside the diff, it wont upset anything, but honestly dont bother using aftermarket junk they leak in no time at all, same as rocker cover gaskets. Some things its just better to spend the money and do it once.
