Hey Guys was looking at chipping my 2011 d22 and maybe exhaust aswell, was wondering if i could get some feed back from people who have used the chipit mod or maybe other aftermarket chips. All the pros and cons would be welcome and if you thought it was worth it ?

definitely worth the chip upgrade if you want some more go i had the chipit chip in mine. Blanking the EGR is a must otherwise you will get clouds of black smoke from the exhaust. Chipit have blanking plates that easily fit in without much fuss. what i liked about their chip was that you could easily hook up to your laptop and change the tune on the chip to suit the type of driving you'll be doing . The other mod would be a boost controller to increase turbo boost .Again chipit can help with this

Well i have done lots of reading on this included the long post that was linked here in the forums. I figure if i am going to do it do it right the first time. The chipit one with the EGR safe guard sounds like the system to go for, this is the one i was looking at http://www.chipit.com.au/products-p...with-egt-controlled-mapping-in-cabin-display/ worth $1300 going to give them a call on monday and find out if there is any hidden costs ( fitting or pipes etc ).

i have put a post in the chip it specific topic mate, you can check it out there.

but no harm posting it here also.

Well its been almost a month and i STILL have not heard a reply from chip-it reguarding my chip for the ZD30.

Long story short, i was away up north, had someone drop my car in to my local chip it shop to get 3" exhaust, ZD30 chip and EGR controller installed for when i get home. Rang them on phone a couple days before i get home, yep all good, everything installed except your chip as we are expecting it in the mail tomorrow. AWESOME! i thought i went with a good company so i was quite stoked.

I arrive at chip it store after arriving in Perth from work, there is my green beast all sexy with her rather big exhaust coming out the back, i was so excited. I went in store to pay but had to wait for the service man to stop talking to some bloke about a shitty chinese chip he bought from ebay. After 15 minutes of waiting i quietly butted in and asked if he could talk to me a paying customer over this bloke and his shit chinese chip. Obviously i just wanted to drive the car and feel the difference this chip made, unfortunatly this was not the case.

Sorry sir, we are still waiting for your chip to come in the mail and we only installed your exhaust as we dont have any EGR controllers in stock either. FFS i was told on the phone EVERYTHING was installed and ready to go bar the chip which was arriving the next day.

So after a big dissapointment i was assured it would all be in mail in the next week and they would call me to book car in to get shit done, that was 4 weeks ago! Since then the exhaust developed a rattle in it due to two seperate bolts coming loose off the turbo side which instead of being fixed by chip it, i had to get under car and tighten them myself as they were too busy to fix it that day.

All in all, Chip It may be putting out some decent results and be a fantastic company, I am not denying that, but my experience with them has been rather shitty to say the least and i will not be reccommending them to anyone and I will not be getting my chip through them.

Maybe check out the Balcatta Chit It store. Ive visited there and they seemed pretty professional. Im just saving my pennies for my chip now, and I will be going to their store.

i think i may not go with chipit then as i am located in Melbourne and not really interested in having to "chase" someone for a product i have paid for. Will have to do some research for a place in Melbourne.

If I was buying one I would go with a steinbauer, I always read about problems with the other 3 big chip brands (DP chip, Chip it, roo systems) but never many to do with the steinbauer.

theres also Unichip, someone who owned a shop that was a distributor for them was talking them up for ages.

Hi Brett

I am sorry you got the pointy end of the stick. I would say, as most here that have dealt with us know, that what happened to you is NOT the norm. We really do pride ourselves with excellent customer service both pre and post sales.

In any case I do apologise for making what should have been a positive experience lousy.

I wonder if you would like to chat with me via PM, email or phone to see what I can do to help disperse the crap service you got on the day.

My phone number is 0412 30403

I service the east cost Chip It Australia Outlet BTW.

Sincerely

Robert

180 we don't have nor did we ever have issues with the Nissans.

In fact Nissan chips are one of my biggest sellers and many forum members here and other sites know the great results we get from the D40 and D22s.

Can you explain where you heard of this from??

Hey I wouldn't knock a chip it chip away that's for sure. A friend/customer of mine came in with a Nav running poor. Removed the chip and sorted his problem. Chip it replaced it with in a week. (the fault was a very minor boosting issue)
Unfortunately I haven't received my "free" on in the mail for the free advertising I do ;). Hahah
Other than that. Customer service was great.
I have had people with steinbauers with issue and dp chips. (Being the worst of the bunch)

Usually they're are right on the money Brett. Customer service is one of our strong points but as you personally have found out ... we stuff up too sometimes.
