Creaking noise/scraping noise left rear wheel

Hi i have a d22 2004 and every time i turn left there is a loud creaking/scraping noise from the rear left hand wheel and it is getting worse. Could it be wheel bearing and if so how easy is it to change?

check your diff oil mate
it could be empty or full of watery oil ?
a bearing will be noisy all the time, but its worth checking
jack rear left up and spin wheel by hand,... any noise?.. any side to side play?
is the noise better or worse with the handbrake 1/2 on ?
you could have a loose brake shoe
how tight are your wheel nuts?
