Hi All,
I recently came into some new whistling noises coming from under my bonnet.
I'm almost certain that it's a boost leak, however an industrial mechanic had a quick look for me and thought it may be coming from the alternator.
I'm not sold on the noise coming from the alternator, however the mechanic made a good point that the alternator gets hot really quickly.
After running the engine for a few minutes, the alternator is about twice as hot as the engine. (I can touch the engine, but the alternator is almost at burning temperature)
Is the alternator getting this hot abnormal? Seems to be charging the battery fine so far!
