sliders with/without skid plate??

Should sliders have a skid plate welded on the underside or would the tubular steel be enough to 'slide' on?

I dont think there is a right or wrong way IMO, and i have seen them built both ways.
Personally i got scotty's steep angle sliders which have the plate on the under and they work well to stop rocks and crap flicking up and with the plate on they dont act like a cheese grater and you dont have to worry about branches ect getting snagged in-between the sill and slider

Thanks Nathan. Had thought that I would go with the plate underneath although I hadn't considered the 'cheese grater' effect withuot it!!

If ur making them yourself, make sure you leave a gap between the plate and tube at the lowedt point so water and mud etc can get out
I also have scotty's sliders and they have more than paid for themselves on few occasions
