Hey guys,

have this weird issue, turn the key to On, all lights come on, go to the next step to start and nothing... just like a click.

Go back to on, to on, same thing, third or 4th go, and she fires up..

Don't happen all the time but its becoming consistent.

Had the battery tested, all good.

Ideas?

Being XMAS, seems most auto eleco are closing down!

Checked the battery terminals? If not, I'd start with making sure they are clean and tight. Also, check the main earth cable from the battery to the body and engine block. If no dice on any of that I'd suspect a failing starter solenoid or starter motor. So that would be the following step, replacing that...

It could be any of the above. Neutral selection isn't usually an issue and if you're hearing it click then the gearbox sensors are probably ok but check it anyway.

The click is probably the solenoid and I'm betting there's either a poor connection or the contact points in the solenoid have arced too many times.
