Take it back and tell to do what you payed them to do.

Was going to say the same as Krankin, but I'm no expert. However, I can tell you that the Navara for what ever reason needs someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to wheel alignments. I've had mine done twice by two different workshops (both good workshops!), second time the Mechanic was recommended by my local Nissan dealer (on the quiet of course) and so far everything is as you'd expect it to be.

Cheers Brad

i called them and told them it is still veering to the left and they told me the computer shows it strate so i thought it may be the ball joints, or the bushes! could that be the case

There's not not many around that know how to do 4WD's,
even more so modded one's.

There's one in Cambelfield, Melb that specialises in 4WD, trucks etc, and is in a lot of the mags but cant think of the name at present.

Thats the problem, they only know whats in the book.

Every vehicle is a bit different and hence needs someone with experience in a bit of tweak.

Biggest problem I have found in getting alignments is that few are prepared to go outside whatever the "Book" says for any particular model. The problem with alignment by the book is that the specifications have a fair range in the tolerance and that will allow for anything from a car that drives really nicely to an absolute pig of a thing which is "Within spec mate"

The camber tolerance alone can easily induce a pull to one side. A cambered wheel tries to drive in the direction it is leaning, if the camber tolcerance is (Typically) plus or minus half a degree you can have a full degree more negative camber on one side than the other so both tyres are trying to drive off in the same direction and off she goes if you release the wheel.

My D22 was right on the negative camber side of spec on the right front and on the positive side of spec on the left when it was delivered, that was enough to make it pull noticeably to the left. I fixed it up myself in the end as I could not find anyone prepared to bother with it as it was in spec according to the book. I just cranked the camber bolts as far negative as I could on the left side of the car while maintaining the same relationship between the two bolts and then rough measured caster with a spirit level to check the camber change on each side as I turned the wheels. That was 20,000 km ago. My only tyre wear issues have been from forgetting to drop the rear pressures back down after towing a heavy trailer, which wore the middle of the tyres and on the fronts it was toed out a touch too far which knocked the inside edges about a bit and the outside edges suffer a bit on road from the soft front end letting them roll under in corners.

My dealer did my wheel alignment for free with the 10K service, even with aftermarket suspension fitted.
2 thumbs up for Berwick Nissan!

Damn you having a decent dealer 08KINGCAB

In the past we've brought about 6 Nissan's from Berwick and in sales Malcom's always been pretty good to us but when buying the Nav he wasn't around and the guy I got instead wouldn't even haggle against the price I'd got elsewhere. He was also about $4K off the price of the trade in which didn't help the haggle.

Looks like I'll be heading down to Berwick if my mate decides to retire after his next holiday though.

Malcom sold me mine too, wasn't pushy and quite willing to throw in a few extra to seal the deal.

As with veering to the left, was there any noticeable or unusual wear on the left tyre? Is the steering wheel straight? have you checked tie rods, bushes etc for wear? Some dodgey wheel aligners don't check for worn components they just set the toe and call it done. For the sake of another $50 or so I would try somewhere else, You don't want to scrub out those new Mickeys!

I always found it a little ironic that a guy with his name was selling 4WD's, I kept expecting him to try and sell me a boat as well and then send me on a trip to the Top End.

yeah the steering wheel is straight. i dont know what to look for and where to look. can you post some pics so i know what and where to look.
ps do you recommend anyone.

If there are no worn steering or suspension components,

its a simple ajustment of the Castor angle.

Wes,

My new 09 D22 also pulled left when i purchased it. I took it back to Nissan 5 times to be fixed and after several wheel allignments i was told on the quiet to just suck it up.

I eventually took it to my local 4wd steering and suspension specialist and he sorted it out in a matter of minutes. One of his employees has the same car and problem. Now im not very good at Tech talk so dont quote me. The problem was the upper cam bolt could not be adjusted to make the wheels square with the road. Also most places that dont specialise in wheel allignments dont bother with this adjustment.

Eventually Nissan agreed to pay the $180 it cost to fix and now it drives great.

Dont get me started on this "warranty" issue.
Have got 2 independent reports with the one I got yesterday stating that the vehicle is dangerous to drive based upon the specified values. Yet they are reluctant to go beyond what the book says it should be.
Taking this up again with Nissan next week with the 20k service.

Barge have you got the printout of your specs taken from computer alignment. If so could you put up the figures?

Sorry Aido,

My Local (Perth) Dealer said nissan where going to investigate it further and possibly issue a kit to repair it. Mind you i wouldn't hold my breath. I wouldn't trust this guy as far as i could throw him.

Im going back to my suspension/steering joint this week, i'll ask him for a more detailed explanation and put it up.

Good luck mate, if its Nissan warranty you'll need it!

Perth huh?
I guess that rules me out popping in to see the same bloke then!
Apparently the Nullabor is a straight line but with they way mine behaves I would still have to make 16934 corrections and weave my way across!

I had the same problem, It took three wheel allignments to get it right.
If you live in Brisbane, these are the guys who got it right first time for me.

Once again I need to ask.
Did you get the print out from the wheel alignment? If so what are all the figures to make it straighten up and fly right?
Problem with mine as I found last week was that the idler arm had flogged out its bushes - thats after only 20k kms. Now I have to have it alligned for a fourth time since new as it was set up with dodgy idler arm and now it pulls to the right.

Mine is the same. I take my 1998 Nav single cab to a guy in Brendale in Brisbane. He has an old wheel alignment machine with the lights and mirrors and knows how to use it. Great results every time.
