is it ok to use 90lsd oil in the rear diff of the d40 instead of the 75-90lsd oil it says to use only reason I ask is I got a 20l unopened drum for nix and im a cheep ass don't wanna pay for it if I don't have to cheers

Is the GL rating exactly what is required ? Is it LSD oil specifically ?

If those two things are correct, the only difference is that at colder temperatures, the oil will flow like a SAE90 oil instead of a SAE75 oil. This may not be a major problem if you live in a hot environment anyway.

Having said that, the rear diff only takes 2L of oil, so even decent quality LSD 80W-90 will only set you back about $20
