Hey everyone, I'm about to do the egr mod in my D22 3L. Do you have to do the catch can at the same time??

No. They're entirely separate things.
It is true though, that BOTH the EGR circuit and the PCV circuit put exhaust gases into your intake manifold. That's the only thing in common. One is sourced from your crankcase ventilation (which is absolutely vital, you cannot block that off) and the other from your exhaust manifold.

Ohk cool so the catch can wait a couple of weeks?
Sure can (no pun intended). It's not even vital and the two mods don't depend on each other. You can fit a catch can without blocking the EGR - and vice versa.
