g'day pete welcome welcome! I live in Dingley Melbourne, but I bought my navara from a bloke in traralgon. couldn't be happier with it. had 20 k on the clock. 2006 model. he bought it brand new from nissan in traralgon. yeah I would say bash plate are a must. I've already destroyed the ones he had on it, which I think nissan put on when the bar was put in. will be looking to make my own maybe. im up for a challenge, and I'm good at welding being a mechanical plumber
Thanks mate. Hopefully i can find one in Traralgon then, save me having to drive to far.lol
Be a while, but when i go down the path of getting bashplates i'll try to remember to sketch up some drawings and dimensions, wack some plate detail drawings together so people can make there own. Not much to them really so if people can see some detail drawings im sure a few will bend their own up. Like i said though, that wont happen for a while yet but i'll try to remember and will post the drawings on here.
Then you best not read some of my other threads, I've had stand up arguments on site with both the sales droid and the head mechanic at Albroys. Sales droid was just a stupid argument that got out of hand but the fight with the mechanic was one step away from turning very ugly. All based around them refusing to do all the points of the log book service on my Forrestor, disagreeing with the manual, the tyre placard and Subaru Melbourne in relation to tyre pressures and the increase in price from the quote he tried to slug on me for the 37.5K service. Albroys wont ever get my service again and in the past 7 years have done themselves out of two sales with me.
Wights aren't much better, although they replaced a whole steering wheel in the Nav for the sake of two pieces of peeling plastic. I've brought several cars from Wights in the last 20 years but they were hopeless when it comes to the Nav so I went elsewhere and now only use Wights for warranty issues and parts because my mate has the trade account there.
The day my mate retires from doing diesel mechanics if he hasn't got someone trained up my Nav will be going to Melbourne when it needs servicing because I don't trust any of the local mechanics or dealer mechanics down here.
Yeah im not surprised. if i didnt have my cousin working on my car i wouldnt be dealing with them either. I've heard stories before. I was planning on taking (when i get it) the Navara to Wights to give them a go, wait and see i spose.
How do you like the Forrestor? I'll be a tad sad to see the Liberty go. Bloody good car, nice to drive and never given me any hassles. Brother had a WRX, same thing no problems and bloody fun to drive. His since gone back to a Ford Xr6 ute, only a few years old, couldnt count all the problems on one hand, piece of sh*t. Guy at work has a Xr6 ute, 1 year old and its already getting a new motor put in it..haha. He only buys Fords this bloke, dont know why how many lemons i've seen him go through in the last few years.
I'll take a Japanese built car over a ford or holden anyday. Few people might not like that comment but thats my opinion.
Pete
