Looking to install a new gauge to keep an eye on things.

I already have EGT and boost but need some advice from the knowledge bank (aka you guys and girls).

I am not sure what would be of more benefit, oil temp or pressure.
How effective is the oil pressure system in the vehicle already and would a gauge improve the odds of picking something up? I see most people have a pressure gauge but no reasons why that is?

Or would the oil temp be a more telling indicator of impending doom.

Thanks

Flynny

Pressure is more important for the health of the big end bearings but if you lose pressure suddenly (which is how you'd usually lose pressure), the bearing is wiped before you can do anything, at least at highway speed.

oil pressure is the main one.
from that you can also judge oil temp as oil pressure goes down as the temp rises.

oil pressure is very handy for working out if the oil filter is clogging up and dropping pressure, or that oil is to thick and your overpressure and the oil bypass is opening (which means low oil flow and no filtering).
