I just use google for most stuff, then if I want more info http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ I have found very useful.

I use Google Maps to plan the route, generally I know where we're going and how long we can take for our trip. This allows us to use Google to find attractions at various stages of the journey.

I also use Camps Australia and Caravan Parks Australia as a guide to where I can stop, although we've discovered that most of our major highways have rest areas frequently enough for our needs.
