Both will fit.16x7 is wat the Nissan alloys are with +44 offset. Both rim sizes will fit. If u want a wider foot print go the 16x8 if ur happy with the footprint in the 16x7 the stick with it.

If u wanted it to look factory but with steel rims then +20-30 is Wat ur after. The idea of new rims is to change the footprint. Ask ur local tire dealer for advise. Im just going off other forum info

Hey fellas, I wouldn't have thought the size of the rim would give you a wider footprint, but mean that you could get a wider footprint due to being able to fit a bigger tyre than a 16 x 7 would allow you to?? Is that what you meant? I'm watching this thread as wanna get rims at some stage!
Merry Christmas!
Marcus

Well bit of both being able to fit bigger tire and the rim making the sidewalls sit out further. That's Wat I think but I may not be correct. Hopefully someone can clarify the subject a bit better.

Hey guys. Got some pretty good info here, I'm looking at getting some 265/75/r16 mickey baja mtz, the guy at Perth 4x4 is set that they won't fit without lift, but have been told same size bighorns and Cooper stt will...anyone done this? (no lift and standard alloy) Saw on 2nd page someone has these tyres and it looks mint.

Is it worth getting 16x8 +20 offset steelies or will 7 inch wide be ok?

Cheers
And happy new year:p

Hey greesie, do a search of the forum or check the tyre section or something. There's heaps of talk about tyre size in here, I think
You'll find that people get a bit of scrubbing but not major, but do a search before you buy coz everyones got different lifts n stuff goin on.
I posted a thread a while ago sbout increasing tyre size and everyone was like do it do it!
Still not sure how I feel about losing acceleration but that's another story.
Happy new year!

They will fit mate, might have to play with the the mudflaps a little though, this is what most ppl do

Awwsome cheers everyone for your help! Decided to go for em once get car back from injector pump rebuild:s

Got some 265/75/r16 Micke Thompson Baja MTZs last week. got 3 inch lift and trimmed the mudflaps and they still scrubbed. trimmed them some more and no scrubbing. Look sweet i think.

Can someone please tell me the measurement, between the stud holes to a flat/straight edge across the front (white side) of the rim of a 16x8... trying to work out the offset of a set for sale.

Cheers

Tying to get some 16x8 sunraysia rims with a +20 or +30 offset for my D22 but the local tyre place claim they don't exist, Is this true?

So what are people running, both brand and offset? And any issues?

Or should I just get the 16x7 +28.

J

i have spoken to pro comp few times trying to get a set of rims suited for my nav and they told me every time that they dont exist, but i know they do cause people have them on so i come to conclusion you just have to ask for a the right stud pattern and offset and don't tell them its for a navara d22 and you'll get them, soon as i mentioned d22 they said na mate they hit caliper bla bla bla

Sometimes it is the lack of dish on the mounting face of the steel rim that causes the rim to foul on the outer vertical edge of the calipar and it doesn't matter what the offset is becaus it is the mounting face that causes the problem not where it is welded onto the rim which give the offset. If you look as say the steel rims for a prado you can see that the mounting face is heavilly dished to clear the caliper. Try other manufactures or chace some rims from other vehicles.

I'm about to order some rims and tyres through my local Bob Jane, I'm getting some BF Goodrich MUDs Km2 on black sunrasia King rims with a + 20 offset as I like the look of this combo as ages of you guys have done.
But the problem is that the Bob Jane want me to sign some sort of a waiver as he reakons that it puts pressure on the bearings or axles or something???
Has anyone had this experience?
Cheers

Hey mate, im sure someone on here will give you more insight, but have you tried somewhere else for a second opinion? A local place or an offroad tyre specialist, or offroad rim specialist, or the manufacturer? They might be able to give you a more definitive reason, or tell you that it aint true. But yeah I wouldn't sign it, shouldnt have to if you can get the right fit...

The correct d22 offset for steel rims is +20 or +30. All rims put pressure on bearings so the waiver is crap. My local bob Jane have not told me this when I've been in. If it were a 0 offset I would be asking questions but even then some d22 are running it.

Ask around

Excellent Thanx for that, will have a chat with him and tell him how it is. ;-) my closest dealer I'm to lazy to go further, it's a lease vehicle too so I'm not paying for tyres just rims, gotta love that !!!

The stock ST-R rims are 16x7+40. If you fit 16x7+20 your rim will be 20mm further out and 16X8+20 will be 32.5mm further out. This will increase the force placed onto the the axles, bearings and stearing componenets causing them to wear out prematurely or be more susceptable to failure.

Cheers
