d22 surging problem

hi all i have a 2003 d22 str 3.0TD well the problem is when im i 4Th gear from start to finish the car surges i don't know why and it only does it in 4Th i have changed fuel filter and it still does it any ides on what it could be please let me know

That will be the Neutral position switch.

Its a bitch to get to.

Gonna see if I cant get a oxygen sensor style socket to change mine.

However, mine failed differently. The computer thinks mine is in gear all the time.

The computer thinks your's is out of gear in 4th because the switch is dicky.

just un plug it and forget about it, i think its a square shaped plug on the rhs of the box
