Had the car in for its 175,000km service yesterday(so its actually done a bit over 190,000km) and had a catch can fitted also.
All in all everything still works wells and purrs like a kitten.

While i was there for a bit he told me about one of his customers cars that he has built, a drag car ran a 9.7 at 139mph at calder, and they were just testing the new rear setup they have installed to help get the power down, there gona pump up the boost a bit more and are hoping for a 8.8sec pass.
Absolute weapon of a car, 2 speed, nos, monster turbo, slicks....the list goes on.
Started it up and it just sounds like a normal skyline with an exhaust system fitted.

The setup after it was installed, its only temporary as im gona put in a larger air cleaner as one of the forum members has done not long ago, an 80 series cruiser air cleaner i think, reason for this is when i had a closer look at the plastic pipe that goes from the pre cleaner to the air cleaner, its bloody tiny and would be massively restrictive so its gona come out quick fast.

Now i just got to save again and fix my tailshaft loop bearing.

Cheers.

who did the 80 series airbox? i was guna use 3.0 gu but all the 4.2 guys buy em up

Dunno how you'd go sourcing a 4.9 mate but the Rodeo runs a Dana 44 in the rear, I've heard they come in 4.3 and 4.55 flavours.

I've also heard you can run up to 2% difference in ratios off road without issues. That would allow you to run the 4.375 Nissan rear and a 4.3 crown and pinion in the Dana 44 on the front, sourced from a rodeo if they are interchangeable.

Especially if you only lock in 4x4 when you can't keep going with 4x2, to save your transfer chain as a habit anyway.

I know i can have a slight difference in ratio for off roading, the dana gear im sourcing would be a 4.89, there is no dana 44 ratio with a 4.3 otherwise i would have fitted it up front, if the rodeo is a dana 44 and has that ratio then its most likely like the ford couriers diff which is also apparently a dana 44 but on closer inspection its not, its a copy of the dana but not even arb make a locker for em (the courier). The closest ratios for the dana is 4.09 then the next is 4.27 then 4.56. Iv been told by another source that the rodeo diff is a dana 44 so il do some research on them otherwise i got a number to call a guy in mornington who specialises in custom building dana diffs, so he is my best bet, just got to wait till next year till he opens up again.

Cheers.

Specs?
DB?
Why?
Matched to?

I'm being lazy and cant be arsed tracking back through all threads

Oh and why does a 4x2 need something like this?
now I'm just being a smart ass

Its a 4.5db aerial, i had one previously but snapped it in an ultra low undercover car park.
I know your just being cheeky bout the 4x2, i cop it all the time from my mates, but 2wd with muddies and a crazy driver whos not afraid to boot and launch his car makes for some good action.

Not any more, il admitt i done it a few times when i was younger. I dont go first through bog holes now in 2wd but if a mate can go through in 2wd so can i. I just give it gas when its bumpy and going uphills, its not fun rolling backwards steeply.

The dana 44 is a pretty strong and solid diff, hence why i am also happy to be changing the rear to a dana 44 aswell, the standard str diff looks tiny. Correct me if im wrong but are some patrol diffs dana's anyway?

D22 Navara/ Patrol diffs are made by Fuji Heavy Industries.

Dave.

Led to believe ( by a Nissan fanatic ) that if there is one thing they do well its diffs.
Problem with modifications of any sort of vehicle is that the more extreme the mod the harder it gets to get the bloody thing finished. The bloke in the back shed doesn't have an unlimited R+D budget to try all combinations and permutations and so there is always at least one hang up that will always f*** you over. And as soon as you solve that problem another one (or 2) appear. Mate is 4 years into modding an MQ SWB for comp use. Fabricated everything himself. Only original part is the windscreen!
Kudos to yourself and Joshy for treading this path to deviate from normal and seeing the job through because it is not an easy one to travel.

Says the man that has just recently given up stuffing around with small capacity Kawasaki 2 strokes - Gave them a reduction of 50% weight and more than triple the HP output to make 100cc do "The Ton"

Ok made a few phone calls today and done some more goooooogling aswell, i need a dana 44 diff out of a cherokee or wagoneer built from 1974 onwards, the early 74 models had a 5 stud axle but later 74 models have the 6 stud which is what i need also the diff housing is central, works out perfect for me.
Problem now is finding this diff, if anyone can help locate one that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, your friend SOLID D22 trying to get back into 4wding!
