    D40 Alternator bearing squeal

Changed pulley but alternator still would not charge. Ended up pulling it apart and found one of the wires connecting to a brush had welded itself to the tension spring. Managed a temp repair by soldering in some more copper wire and replaced spring with one from a biro. Will have to order up...

    D40 Alternator bearing squeal

Thanks. Will be picking up a replacement pulley tomorrow. Mine crapped out and I am having to recharge the battery on a charger every night. Glad I don't have any more trips planned at moment. Murph

Where did you get the special tools to remove the pulley? I have seen one set but they were over $200! Need to do the pulley on mine but don't have the right tools. Regards Murph

    Wiper blades for D40 STX

It was a good while ago when I replaced mine but IIRC you need to pop the rubber up on one end and slide the old blades out. I remember it was a bit fiddly but not too bad. Regards Murph

Alloy rim recall - anyone heard anything?

Got mine fitted yesterday. They even ran some tyre shine over the tyres after they fitted them

Would love to come but I don't think I would be able to sit in the driving seat on rough terrain for that long mate. Still healing after my operation. I am getting stitches out tomorrow so will see how I go the rest of the week. Unlikely though :( Hope you guys have fun. Murph

    Thank you RLI

Thanks mate, All going well so far on the recovery. I get my stitches out tomorrow. Only concern at the moment is that it is still weeping out from the cavity (too much information ??) . Hopefully it keeps healing well. It is even getting to the stage where I can sit relatively comfortably...

Thanks Scotty. I hope it heals fairly quick as I am flying back to the UK on the 23rd. Well thats the plan at the moment. Will see how things go I guess. Bods, the thing that gets me is that the lump was very small (10mm or so) on the surface and there was no pain. It is one of those...

    Tyre Size Fitting

They do fit the D40. I run them on mine. Is yours Spain or Thai build? You may have to bend the front of the inner guard out a little with a heat gun to prevent rubbing on full lock but that should be all. Murph

Hi, I am sort of sitting at home after a "minor" cyst removal today. Well, that was what I thought this morning when I went to the medical clinic! I hit my coccyx before christmas (swimming pool and too much rum) and I still have a bit of pain around it. A couple of weeks ago I felt a small...

    Engine noise?

Hi, I have noticed a bit of a ticking/rattly noise when sitting at idle. When I push in the clutch the noise dissappears. Anyone have any ideas? On a 08 ST-X Manual diesel. Regards Murph

    Front Recovery Points

I have after market recovery points fitted both sides. They are attached to the captured nuts in the chassis rails. Have used them a few times for snatching. Incidentally my bullbar also attaches to the chassis at the same location. Murph

Will be applyiong for my A/B license next week. Getting sports and recreational shooting on it. Will be starting with a .22 rifle as I will be able to shoot that at the pistol club. Am also thinking of a .308 or a .223 when my license comes through. Really like the look of the Ruger Gunsite...
